Position: Personal Injury Case Manager/Paralegal
Are you a skilled and meticulous Personal Injury Case Manager/Paralegal eager to become part of our growing team? This position offers a unique opportunity to thrive in a supportive and collaborative office environment where you can advance your career. You will be working in the office five days a week, with an initial assessment period to ensure mutual compatibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Onboarding: Facilitate the intake process for new clients, including collecting pertinent information, assessing case viability, and documenting client details.
- Case Oversight: Manage a portfolio of personal injury cases, ensuring smooth progression through the legal system.
- Client Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing updates on case status and addressing any questions.
- Document Organization: Maintain and organize case files, including medical records, police reports, and correspondence.
- Legal Support: Conduct research to assist attorneys in preparing cases and developing strategies.
- Discovery Assistance: Support the discovery phase by drafting interrogatories, document requests, and other legal documents.
- Trial Support: Prepare trial materials, including notebooks, exhibits, and witness lists to aid attorneys during trial proceedings.
- Court Filings: Handle the submission of legal documents to courts, including pleadings, motions, and settlements.
- Mediation Participation: Engage in mediation and negotiation sessions to seek favorable outcomes for clients.
- Deposition Coordination: Organize and attend depositions, serving as a liaison among clients, witnesses, and attorneys.
- Expert Witness Collaboration: Work with expert witnesses, coordinating their involvement and managing schedules.
- Court Calendar Management: Keep court calendars updated, ensuring adherence to deadlines and court appearances.
The responsibilities outlined above may evolve as the firm expands, and certain tasks may be reassigned to focus on skill development and career growth. Any changes will be communicated in advance.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of legal experience, with at least 3 years in personal injury.
- Fluency in Spanish and English is a plus, but not mandatory.
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- A paralegal certificate is advantageous but not essential.
- Litigation experience is crucial.
- Ability to manage approximately 100 cases concurrently while meeting deadlines.
- Experience in claims adjusting is beneficial.
- Knowledge of medical claims is preferred.
- Experience in negotiating medical expenses is a plus.
- Proficiency in case management systems (training will be provided).
- Familiarity with software such as PeachCourt, Tyler/Odyssey, File & Serve Xpress, and Pacer (preferred), along with Microsoft Word and Google Docs.
- Strong writing and grammar skills.
