Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Oil Recovery/Wastewater Operator II to join our team at Veolia North America. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining oil recovery and wastewater treatment plants, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and optimizing plant performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and control plant operations, including processing, disposal, and testing equipment
  • Collect and analyze water and sewage samples to ensure compliance with regulatory standards
  • Record and report operational data, including meter and gauge readings
  • Operate equipment to purify and clarify water or to process or dispose of waste
  • Clean and maintain equipment, tanks, filter beds, and other work areas
  • Inspect equipment regularly to ensure optimal performance and safety
  • Follow U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regulations and ensure safety standards are met
Requirements
  • High School education or equivalent with the ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally
  • Associate's degree in a science or technical area strongly preferred
  • Typically holds or is working toward an intermediate level water and/or wastewater treatment certificate
  • 2 or more years of operational experience in an industrial process or equipment, methods, techniques, and practices of water/wastewater treatment
Working Conditions

This is a Monday-Friday, 1st shift position with every second or third week working 3 hours per day. The work environment is 100% operations-based, and the employee may need to work outside in inclement weather conditions and drive a company vehicle to perform duties.

Physical Demands
  • Standing 25%, Walking 75% for as many as five miles per shift
  • Use of hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching and entering confined spaces
  • Lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds (occasionally 60 pounds)
