Job Title: Substation Transmission Engineer III

Arizona Public Service (APS) is seeking a highly skilled Substation Transmission Engineer III to contribute to our team's success. As a leading energy provider in Arizona, we are committed to delivering clean, reliable, and affordable energy to our customers.

Our Substation Transmission Engineering team is responsible for designing and executing capital projects at the transmission voltage level throughout the state of Arizona. We are looking for an experienced engineer with a strong background in substation physical and controls design to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive sets of construction documents for electrical substations of varying sizes and voltages.
  • Oversee the production of one-line diagrams, conceptual designs, plan-section drawings, foundation, grounding, specifications, schematics, wiring diagrams, and other necessary drawings.
  • Collaborate with cross-discipline design teams, owners, and contractors to develop drawings and specifications.
  • Coordinate with external vendors, design firms, internal design teams, and manufacturers.
  • Develop estimates and refine scope of work from sponsors.

Requirements:

  • A four-year Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or related applied science discipline from an ABET accredited institution.
  • Five (5) years of working experience in engineering-related positions.
  • Strong knowledge of substation physical and controls design.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years of substation physical & controls design experience.
  • Experience with extra high, high, and medium voltage electrical substations.
  • Knowledge of design software and tools.
