Job Summary

We're seeking a highly skilled Substation Engineer to join our team of Power Delivery professionals. As a Substation Engineer, you'll play a critical role in designing and developing physical substations, protection, and control systems for high-voltage electric utility projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the preparation of scopes, schedules, and budgets for substation projects
  • Design and develop physical substation layouts, plans, sections, and details, including grounding, lightning protection, and control building arrangements
  • Develop protection and control designs, including panel arrangements, one-line diagrams, and AC/DC schematics
  • Prepare calculations for studies and reports, including grounding, lightning protection, and AC/DC load studies
  • Coordinate design activities with other departments, including Civil/Structural, Networks, and Transmission Line
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate project activities with managers, clients, and other stakeholders
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • 5+ years of experience in substation design, including specific experience with One-Line Diagrams, General Arrangements, Sections, Grounding, Conduit Plans, Foundation Plans, Materials Lists, Relay and Control Systems, Control Schematics, and Wiring Diagrams
  • Strong computer skills, including AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and electrical design software
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desired
