The Physician Assistant (PA) in Primary Care is a certified healthcare professional who provides direct patient services, possesses prescriptive authority, and collaborates with physicians to deliver medical care following established guidelines and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and mental health through examinations and comprehensive medical histories.
- Order, interpret, and analyze diagnostic tests to identify health requirements.
- Prescribe medications and treatment plans, and suggest interventions for behavioral health improvements.
- Formulate patient care plans based on evidence-based practices and work closely with the healthcare team.
- Monitor patient responses to treatment and offer guidance on health management strategies.
- Maintain accurate patient records and facilitate referrals as needed.
- Perform necessary procedures and provide expert consultation within the specialty area.
Qualifications and Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of medical procedures, treatments, and healthcare protocols.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in utilizing healthcare software applications.
- Valid Physician Assistant license in Texas and certification from the NCCPA.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
Position Overview:
Scope: Focused on urgent care visits for acute medical conditions.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, with extended hours on one day of the week.
Patient Load: Managing a daily caseload of 20-24 patients with brief consultations.
Patient Demographics: Providing care for individuals aged 2 years and older.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years in urgent care is preferred.
