Recovery Collector Job Description

At General Electric Credit Union, we are seeking a skilled Recovery Collector to join our team. As a Recovery Collector, you will play a critical role in collecting delinquent payments on installment loans and Visa accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect delinquent payments on all installment loans and Visa accounts
  • Assist in collecting on accounts that are 90 days past due
  • Contact members via phone calls and letters to discuss repayment of delinquent accounts
  • Research means to locate delinquent members who do not respond to phone calls or letters
  • Interpret computer information to determine member's ability to make payments
  • Transfer funds from pledge or secured credit union accounts to satisfy delinquent loan accounts
  • Assure a smooth-running collections department in the supervisor's absence
  • Request accounts to be forwarded for legal or repossession action

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 3 years related collections experience required

Preferred Skills:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Experience in skip tracing
  • Positive demeanor
  • Extraordinary member service skills
  • Fluent English language skills
  • Microsoft Word and Excel experience required
  • Ability to understand and comply with federal and state regulations
