Job Summary

The Mental Health Assistant provides supportive services to the Mental Health team by assisting with patient care, answering phone calls, and performing administrative duties. This role requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Communication and Call Handling: Answer the nursing line, gather and document information about patient calls, and communicate with the Mental Health clinical team to implement care.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with data entry, coordinate patient information, and provide administrative support to the Mental Health clinical team.
  • Pre- and Post-Hospitalization Processes: Assist with the pre- and post-hospitalization process, including reviewing appointments, arranging transportation, and printing AVSs.
  • Patient Support: Provide system navigation support to patients and their family members, help patients identify resources and barriers, and work with patients to clarify goals and planned actions.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum one year of community or customer service experience.
  • Education: Associates degree or two years of experience in a directly related field, or completion of a vocational school certificate in a related field.
  • License, Certification, Registration: Basic Life Support required at hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Behavioral health or healthcare coordination experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or other social services field.
