We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team at Preformed Line Products. As a key member of our Corporate Quality Assurance Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of our products and processes.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the development and implementation of quality assurance/control systems, working closely with the Quality Assurance Manager and Quality Assurance Engineers.
- Perform analysis of testing and inspection procedures to ensure adequacy and compliance, using metrology and statistical methods to diagnose and correct improper quality control practices.
- Conduct audits of internal quality systems to identify deficiencies and implement corrective actions.
- Review engineering drawings and specifications to ensure measurability of key features and manufacturability.
- Develop new testing/inspection techniques, fixtures, and gauges as required, and develop Inspection Plans (IPs) and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) in conjunction with plant Quality Assurance personnel.
- Perform inspections and evaluations of finished products, purchased products, and raw materials, using established specifications.
- Assist Quality Engineers on priority projects and Global Operating System (GOS) initiatives, and utilize physical, mechanical, and electrical testing procedures and inspection equipment to perform routine tasks in the Quality/Materials Lab.
- Help interpret engineering recommendations, customer specifications, and engineering drawings for suppliers and PLP facilities, and conduct source inspections of suppliers and Quality System audits.
- Assist in handling field complaints and product failures, analyzing problems, solutions, or recommendations after proper engineering and laboratory studies.
- Assist engineers and plant personnel in reducing nonconformities and non-conforming product produced in the plants, using Root Cause Analysis and Corrective and Preventive Action tools to effect improvements.
- Develop and conduct material test procedures to comply with industry and customer specifications, and prepare and perform analysis in support of product development.
- Study, support, and implement Lean techniques for continuous improvement, and attend technical meetings, conferences, and specialized courses consistent with area of responsibility.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or Quality Management curriculum preferred, or degrees in other technical curricula considered.
- Zero to three years of experience in a quality assurance and/or manufacturing environment, emphasizing measurement, testing, documentation, and ISO 9001 exposure.
- Computer proficiency required (Microsoft Suite applications), and experience with MiniTab or other statistical analysis software packages preferred.
- Interpersonal and communication skills desired, capable of report formatting and technical writing, and operating general metrology inspection and test equipment preferred.
- Blueprint (GD&T) reading skills preferred, and must be able to travel on occasion and work outside of normal working hours on infrequent occasions.
- 10-15% travel required.
