Job Summary:

To operate mammographic equipment to take x-ray exposures of patients as requested by referring physicians.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Greet patients and explain the mammographic procedure to them.
  • Review patients' medical history prior to performing the mammographic procedure and confirm that they have signed a contrast media consent form if needed.
  • Take x-ray exposures of patients following the protocol for intensity of radiation and time of exposure.
  • Process film and inspect images to confirm that they meet the requirements of the radiologist.
  • Maintain equipment and examination room, store film, and keep inventory of related supplies.
  • Prepare patient files showing information such as patients' names, dates of x-ray, referring physicians, and number of exposures.
  • Prepare and submit reports as required by state and federal regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as directed.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum one (1) year of experience as a Mammography Technologist to include on-the-job training and internships OR registry-eligible ARRT advanced certification in Mammography (must be obtained within six (6) months of hire) WITH minimum one (1) year of recent experience as a Radiological technologist with ARRT required.
  • Per the National Agreement, current KP Coalition employees have this experience requirement waived.
Education and Certifications:
  • Specialized training in mammographic technology required.
Additional Requirements:
  • In order to work effectively with patients, must have effective interpersonal and communication skills and be able to stand, walk, bend, hear, speak, and see.
  • Proficiency in the use of applicable computer software.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification as a mammographic technologist with the ARRT preferred.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) education.
