Research Lab Manager

This position will be in Dr. Minoli Perera's lab, responsible for managing daily operations, including regulatory filing, ordering, student training, lab inventory, clinical study management, sample processing, and coordination. The successful candidate will supervise lab personnel, analyze and review results, and develop and implement new protocols, documentation, and organization of lab files.
Key Responsibilities- Manage technical operations of a lab involved in scientific research activities.
- Organize and plan experiments in consultation with the Principal Investigator to ensure project objectives are attained.
- Oversee and guide lab staff in reviewing results and recommending changes to protocols to improve validity and accuracy.
- Conduct complex experiments and analysis.
- DNA, RNA, and protein isolation, purification, and expression.
- Southern, Northern, and Western blotting.
- PCR and RT-PCR.
- Plasmid preparation.
- Cloning, mapping, and sequencing of DNA.
- Recombinant virus production and purification.
- Cell culture and cell isolation.
- Functional studies.
- Transfection.
- Cloning.
- iPSC differentiation.
- Clinical database management (RedCap).
- Student supervision.
- Regulatory administration (Lumen, DEA license, IRB).
- R experience preferred.
- Oversee and manage collection, maintenance, analysis, and evaluation of data for grant submissions, presentations, and publications.
- Ensure accurate data entry into databases.
- Assist the Principal Investigator in reviewing, analyzing, interpreting, summarizing, formatting, editing, and preparing tables, charts, graphs, progress, and final reports.
- Coordinate between sponsoring agencies, collaboration organizations, and/or other research and/or educational institutions.
- Manage lab budget and inventory, including purchasing supplies and services, ensuring they are necessary, reasonable, and project-related.
- Order and maintain inventory of lab supplies, chemicals, equipment, and instrumentation, and distribute intra-departmental charges.
- Negotiate with vendors, obtain quotes, and arrange for demos of large equipment.
- Train, direct, assign duties to, and supervise lab EEs, students, residents, and/or fellows.
- Provide instruction to lab users on technically complex procedures, equipment, and instruments.
- Typically manage a lab budget of $1,000,000-$3,000,000, 1,000-3,000 sq. ft. of space, and supervise 5-15 lab members.
- Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a scientific major or related.
- Appropriate combination of education and experience and 6 years' lab/bench or other relevant experience required.
- Supervisory or project management experience required.
