Dental Assistant/Mobile Dental Unit Operator

JWCH Institute is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Dental Assistant to join our team as a Mobile Dental Unit Operator. This role is a critical part of our mission to improve the health status and well-being of underserved communities in Los Angeles.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and manage the Mobile Dental Unit, ensuring its efficient functioning and optimal patient care.
- Prepare patients for dental treatments, creating a comfortable and supportive environment.
- Collaborate closely with the Dentist to deliver general patient care, emphasizing effective teamwork and communication.
- Maintain and care for dental equipment, adhering strictly to infection control protocols.
- Coordinate school-based dental care, liaising with schools, school nurses, and parents to ensure comprehensive patient support.
- Facilitate referrals to Wesley Dental Clinics for more extensive treatments when necessary.
- Assume responsibility for inventory control and streamline patient flow for optimal efficiency.
- Participate actively in outreach initiatives and health fair events to promote dental health awareness.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned, showcasing flexibility and dedication to the overall success of the dental care program.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of dental assisting techniques and procedures for all phases of specialty and general dentistry.
- Knowledge of modern dental materials, their storage, handling, and applications.
- Ability to work with diverse populations and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments and responsibilities to ensure compliance within established deadlines and protocols.
- Ability to drive a Mobile Dental Unit and maintain a safe driving record.
- Ability to recognize vehicle maintenance needs.
1. High School diploma or GED certificate required.
2. Completion of an accredited course in Dental Assisting.
3. X-Ray, infection control, coronal polish, and current CPR and First Aid certificates required.
4. Bilingual: English/Spanish is required.
5. No special Drivers License is required.
