Position Overview:

The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, making minor adjustments, and operating packaging machinery. This role involves assessing product quality against customer specifications and performing necessary cleaning and changeover of equipment. Reliability and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) are essential in this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct precise setups on machinery in preparation for specific product runs.
  • Operate machinery and make adjustments as needed to ensure optimal performance and compliance with quality standards.
  • Inspect and test packaging, documenting results to confirm machinery is functioning correctly and meeting quality criteria.
  • Organize and verify required materials for efficient and accurate production changeovers.
  • Complete and compile all necessary documentation related to the role.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Knowledge of GMPs and the HACCP program is preferred, or a willingness to learn.
  • Basic math skills to calculate material quantities for production orders.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills to prioritize tasks and relay information to team members.
  • Ability to handle small tools effectively.
  • Understanding and adherence to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing in English is preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Manufacturing setting with exposure to various machinery, noise levels, and temperature variations.
  • Work environments may vary from warm to refrigerated conditions.
  • Team-oriented atmosphere requiring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Ability to stand for up to 80% of scheduled work hours.
  • Capability to lift up to 40 lbs. unassisted and 40-75 lbs. with assistance.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed based on staffing requirements and production demands.
