Job Title: Senior Database Administrator

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our Information Services Department, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, securing, and maintaining databases that store and process confidential consumer information.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and ensure that database management systems, schemas, performance, and backend storage meet application software project requirements and data storage capacity requirements.
  • Contribute to developing an annual budget to ensure funding for database management systems and the technology and human resources required to implement, support, and maintain it.
  • Collaborate with members of the Information Services Department to develop and execute both tactical and strategic architecture plans and implementations for databases.
  • Research and provide recommendations for a database technology roadmap, including cloud, on-premise, and hybrid solutions.
  • Identify database management tools that support the secure configuration, design, and ongoing management of the database management systems.
  • Identify and ensure that competitive pricing and alternatives are obtained for technology purchases.
  • Purchase and implement upgrades and enhancements to database management systems hardware and software.
  • Install, maintain, and support database server software and associated management tools.
  • Utilize skills and knowledge to automate repeatable tasks to improve productivity of self and team.
  • Design and manage data management systems to support real-time integration and advanced analytics.
  • Implement and support database backups, recovery, patches, and upgrades.
  • Perform the role as a lead technical worker for other employees of the unit and serve as backup to the Configuration Management Supervisor as needed.
  • Participate in all aspects of the application lifecycle: requirements analysis & definition, system design, implementation, testing, deployment, and sustainment.
  • Lead effort to secure data assets across the enterprise, working with risk and information security staff to develop and implement data security policies as required.
  • Review and coordinate technical work activities including application and database system implementations into production.
  • Ensure that database management standards, processes, and procedures are developed, implemented, and maintained.
  • Provide input on the technical ability of other employees in the unit for job performance evaluations.
  • Ensure all database change processes are auditable and align with audit compliance requirements.
  • Ensure developed software is deployed according to database configuration standards.
  • Maintain expert-level technical knowledge in applicable areas of IT, software development, configuration management, and security.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in database administration.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of database management systems, schemas, performance, and backend storage.
  • Experience with database security, data analytics, and data integration.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
