Food Service Specialist

Portland Rescue Mission is seeking a skilled Food Service Specialist to join our team at the Burnside Shelter. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will play a vital role in providing nutritious meals to our guests and program participants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and prepare well-balanced meals for our guests and program participants
  • Ensure all food service requirements are met, including food safety and policy compliance
  • Train and supervise program participants in food service and kitchen operations
  • Partner with volunteers and other staff to provide compassionate and relational meal services
  • Steward donations and resources effectively to minimize waste and costs

Requirements:

  • Passion for serving others and a commitment to our mission
  • Experience in food service or a related field
  • Certification in food service or equivalent experience
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. unassisted
  • Valid driver's license and experience with box trucks and forklifts
