Responsibilities
The Clinical Specialist Pharmacist in Solid Organ Transplant will be responsible for:
- Providing expert-level consultation and guidance on medication use for solid organ transplant patients.
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to patients, including inpatient and outpatient services.
- Optimizing patient outcomes by providing evidence-based, patient-centered drug therapies and monitoring for drug-related problems and medication cost containment.
- Supporting regulatory requirements and quality programs related to safe medication use and medication stewardship.
- Providing pharmacokinetic consultations as needed.
- Monitoring drug therapy to evaluate appropriateness of use, dose, dosage form, regimen, route, therapeutic duplication, and drug interactions.
- Communicating ongoing patient information and efficacy and safety of treatment regimens to all care providers.
- Providing education and training to the transplant team and clinic staff on medication therapy and compliance.
- Participating in interdisciplinary hospital committees, protocol development, and education of pharmacists, nurses, physicians, and other providers.
- Supporting research activities of the respective specialty team as requested.
- Participating actively in all respective area of specialty team meetings, including discharge management, scientific research, and educational teaching conferences.
- Staying up-to-date with changing protocols and clinical pharmacy standards as they pertain to applicable area of specialty.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- Graduation from a Pharmacy program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education.
- Completion of a Post-Graduate Year 2 (PGY2) residency in a specialty practice area and board certification in the area of specialty obtained within 12 months of hire; or, a Post-Graduate Year 1 (PGY1) residency in a specialty practice area and a minimum of two years' post-pharmacist licensure experience within the last seven years with at least 50% of time spent in specialty practice activities as defined by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) and current, active board certification in the area of specialty; or, if no residency training, a minimum of four years' post-pharmacist licensure experience within the last seven years with at least 50% of time spent in specialty practice activities as defined by BPS and current, active board certification in the area of specialty.
- Prior experience in the assigned area of specialty (e.g. Transplant, Infectious Disease, Hematology/Oncology) is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Joint Commission, Federal and state regulations governing general Pharmacist practices and for acute care facilities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Pharmacist practices and principles.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to patients and other practitioners.
- Demonstrated skill in applying professional Pharmacy methods and techniques.
- Current license from the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy.
- Current, active board certification in the area of specialty (EXCEPTION: PGY2 candidates required to obtain board certification in the area of specialty within 12 months of hire).

Mayo Clinic offers a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $127,000 to $191,027.20 per year, and comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
