Director of Nursing DON Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Nursing DON to lead our Nursing Department at Betsy Ross Nursing & Rehab Center. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the overall operation of the Nursing Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement resident care policies and procedures
  • Coordinate the Nursing Department with other departments
  • Advise and consult with the Administrator regarding nursing administration and resident care issues
  • Supervise and evaluate the work performance of personnel
  • Assist nurses in assessing and developing care plans for individual residents
  • Establish and maintain administration procedures and controls of medications
  • Provide consultation with residents and representatives regarding resident care concerns
  • Coordinate and direct all aspects of facility abuse prohibition protocol
  • Maintain required records and reviews updates and revises policies and procedures
Requirements:
  • Wound Care Certification and SigmaCare experience a plus
  • Supervisory or management experience in a hospital or nursing home setting
  • Must be a graduate of an approved school of nursing
  • MDS experience and PRI certification preferred
  • Must have a current registration in New York State as a RN in good standing
  • Bachelors degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred or minimum five (5) years of experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Ability to work cohesively with residents, families, and staff from various departments
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and be flexible
