Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Horticulture Adjunct Faculty to join our team at Virginia Western Community College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching college-level courses in horticulture, including plant propagation, landscape plants, pest management, soils, greenhouse management, and management of a horticulture business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach horticulture courses on the main Virginia Western campus, as well as hybrid or distance learning/online courses.
  • Maintain currency in teaching disciplines and trends in community college education.
  • Participate in departmental communication and contribute to the development of curriculum and assessments.
  • Work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.
Requirements
  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five years of recent occupational experience in horticulture.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to write syllabi and exams, develop learning strategies, and work with students of varying abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Teaching experience at the college level.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree with major in the teaching field of horticulture.
