The Manufacturing Mechanic I is tasked with the upkeep and repair of all equipment within the production facility. This role requires prompt responses to machinery breakdowns and timely repairs, alongside performing both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance as needed. The Manufacturing Mechanic I also ensures a safe and orderly workspace by adhering to established procedures, rules, and regulations; optimizes maintenance resources by utilizing tools and supplies effectively; and manages equipment, parts, and supply inventories by monitoring stock levels and anticipating needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Guarantees the functionality of machinery and mechanical systems by executing preventive maintenance tasks on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production equipment; adhering to diagrams, sketches, operational manuals, manufacturer’s guidelines, and engineering specifications, while troubleshooting issues.
  • Identifies sources of malfunctions by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for irregularities, and utilizing precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Oversees and maintains multiple equipment pieces by accurately completing assigned preventive maintenance tasks; executing corrective maintenance work orders, and documenting all necessary paperwork, including work orders and parts usage.
  • Minimizes downtime by educating production staff on routine preventive maintenance practices, monitoring adherence, and supporting production to maintain optimal efficiency.
  • Performs additional duties as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Ability to read and interpret Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) or instructions.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Competence in monitoring and adjusting equipment settings, including speeds, temperatures, and fluid levels.
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex process challenges.
  • Skills in making mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic adjustments.
  • Preferred experience in reading blueprints, electrical schematics, and machine diagrams.
  • Ability to understand complex processing machinery.
  • Individual should demonstrate initiative in enhancing technical skills.
  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) is required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience ranging from 1 to 3 years in a relevant field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge with a preference for 2 or more years of experience in plant maintenance and high-speed production machinery, or relevant technical certification.
Work Environment

Exposure to noisy, wet, and extreme temperature conditions.
