About the Logistics & Storage Engineering Division:

The Logistics & Storage division serves as a crucial connection between refining and marketing sectors at Marathon. This division is responsible for the transportation of crude oil and refined products to and from refineries and storage terminals, facilitating distribution to retail marketing locations through pipelines and marine transport.

Key Components of Logistics & Storage and Midstream:

  • Logistics & Storage Support Services (L3S): Provides engineering design and project management for various operations.
  • Terminals: Essential for blending, distributing, and delivering quality products safely and competitively.
  • Transport & Rail (T&R): Delivers transportation services for crude oil and refined products to end users.
  • Marathon Pipe Line Company (MPL): Operates pipeline systems for transporting crude oil and refined products.
  • Marine: Manages a private fleet for shipping petroleum products.
  • Gathering & Processing: Focuses on natural gas processing to extract valuable hydrocarbons.

Responsibilities:

The Logistics and Storage intern/co-op program aims to identify and cultivate future technical and leadership talent for MPC, benefiting both the company and the engineering field. Interns/co-ops may experience multiple work sessions, allowing them to rotate through various L3S components, gaining exposure to different business segments and responsibilities. Participants will engage in the Marathon Project Management Process (MPMP), covering phases such as Conceptual, Feasibility, Definition, Implementation, and Start-up/Close-out.

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Developing project scope
  • Providing engineering oversight
  • Conducting technical design
  • Estimating costs
  • Creating schedules
  • Evaluating and summarizing bid sets
  • Supervising construction
  • Leading safety initiatives
  • Coordinating with operational teams
  • Documenting projects
  • Traveling as required (15-45%)

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, or Corrosion Engineering.
  • Demonstrating strong academic performance.
  • Authorized to work in the US without the need for visa sponsorship.
  • Available for spring, summer, and fall semesters.
  • Valid driver's license required for travel to construction sites.
  • Military experience is a plus.
  • Concurrent enrollment in a degree-seeking program.
