Special Education Teacher

We are seeking a highly qualified and skilled Special Education Teacher to join our team at Providence Public Schools District (PPSD). As a Special Education Teacher, you will work in partnership with parents, students, and general education teachers to promote student achievement and provide specially designed instruction to students with disabilities.
Responsibilities:- Administer district curriculum aligned with Rhode Island State Standards
- Provide specially designed instruction to students with disabilities in various settings
- Work collaboratively with general education teachers and paraprofessionals using the co-teaching model
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities
- Complete quarterly progress reports and ensure goals and objectives of IEPs are implemented
- Ensure a supportive environment for all students
- Create and maintain a positive, orderly, and academically focused learning condition
- Provide individual and group interventions to students in the Response to Intervention Process
- Implement scientifically-based instruction to support unique academic, social, and behavioral needs of students
- Collect, administer, and report progress monitoring data for all student goals
- Adhere to federal, state, and local mandates in special education
- Schedule and case manage three-year re-evaluations for students with disabilities
- Ensure students with disabilities receive a free appropriate education in the least restrictive environment
- Conduct, implement, and develop alternate assessments consistent with RIDE regulations
- Participate in district and school-based professional development activities
- Maintain a web-based portfolio and outcomes data on all assigned students
- Develop and provide daily, authentic learning experiences aligned with RI Early Learning Standards
- Work professionally with administrators, staff, parents, and community
- Develop a classroom climate that promotes positive learning conditions
- Provide differentiated, developmentally appropriate learning experiences aligned with RI Early Learning Standards
- Provide and implement appropriate accommodations for all types of formal assessments
- Bachelor's degree in the applicable field of education from an accredited college or university
- RIDE Certification Requirements: Secondary Grades Special Education Teacher, Grades 7-12
- ESL Certification Preferred
