Behavioral Support Technician

The Behavioral Support Technician will collaborate with the Clinical Team and home-based programs by engaging in data collection, maintaining documentation, facilitating staff training, participating in Individual Support Plan meetings, and serving as a bridge between the clinical department and individual programs. This role involves direct care responsibilities during part of the shift, ensuring a comprehensive approach to support. The Technician will operate under the guidance of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and will receive weekly oversight.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include:
- Develop and implement data collection systems while providing training on their use.
- Assist in the preparation of annual documentation for individuals.
- Regularly graph and summarize collected data.
- Deliver training sessions for staff on Positive Behavior Support, behavior plans, and data collection techniques.
- Support the supervising BCBA in conducting Functional Behavior Assessments, which may include both indirect and direct assessments.
- Collaborate with the supervising BCBA to create Behavior Support Plans and Guidelines.
- Apply evidence-based behavioral strategies and problem-solving skills to effectively address challenges.
- Attend Individual Support Plan meetings as required.
- Assist in managing behavioral crises as they arise.
- Engage with families, guardians, and residential staff regarding the behavioral needs of participants.
- Maintain a valid Safety Care certification.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma is required.
- Annual maintenance of credentials is necessary.
- Interest in behavioral sciences and experience in direct care roles with relevant populations is essential.
- Selected candidates must complete required coursework to become certification-eligible within the first month of employment. Following this, candidates must register for and pass the R.B.T. certification exam within the subsequent 30 days. Completion of the certification process within the first 60 days is mandatory for continued eligibility for the position.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
- Successful completion of all mandated state and agency training is necessary.
- Candidates must consent to a Criminal History Background Check and the release of information regarding allegations from relevant agencies.
