POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the guidance of the Chief Medical Officer and with clinical oversight from the Medical Director, the Geriatric Physician will provide comprehensive medical care to participants. This includes assessing health needs and developing collaborative care plans with the interdisciplinary team. The physician will deliver direct patient care and evaluate the effectiveness of care plans, making independent decisions regarding medical needs and health regimens. The quality of care is overseen by the Medical Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct initial and semi-annual medical assessments of participants, developing and implementing care plans.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of care plans and make necessary revisions.
- Gather comprehensive health histories and document findings systematically.
- Perform physical examinations and order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Conduct functional and mental status evaluations using standardized procedures.
- Manage status changes in participants and facilitate appropriate interventions.
- Provide guidance and support to medical staff as needed.
TREATMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver preventive health care and health promotion for participants.
- Manage acute and chronic illnesses in various settings.
- Adjust medications as necessary in a cost-effective manner.
- Coordinate consultations with medical specialists and oversee participant care.
- Educate participants and families on health maintenance and chronic conditions.
- Coordinate care during hospitalizations and communicate status with the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide supervision and collaboration with nurse practitioners as required.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct in-service training as needed.
- Interpret programs to interested parties.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop comprehensive care plans.
- Maintain accurate documentation of healthcare services provided.
- Participate in various organizational committees as requested.
- Prepare and submit required reports on services provided.
- Attend relevant healthcare conferences to stay updated on current trends.
- Ensure confidentiality and privacy of sensitive information.
- Advise leadership on medical and health matters.
- Handle potentially infectious materials with appropriate precautions.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
