Clinical Nurse Specialist

About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and flexible Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team at Dent Neurologic Institute. As a float nurse, you will provide essential nursing support and ensure high-quality patient care across all our clinics on an as-needed basis.
Responsibilities:
- Comply with quality assurance, HIPAA, customer focus, infection control, and safety regulations per facility policy procedures and NYS regulations.
- Support patient care with an emphasis on patient response; maintain liaison with physicians and practice administration to ensure efficient and effective patient care services.
- Determine urgency of message and/or phone call on an urgent/non-urgent basis.
- Accurately document in Chart/EMR after each patient is seen and/or assisted.
- Prepare e-prescriptions for provider's evaluation and completion/transmittal.
- Assist in completion of insurance/compensation/disability/prior authorization forms.
- Coordinate scheduling with medical secretary.
- Represent the Dent by displaying a respectful and caring manner with patients and their families.
- Maintain work area in clean and orderly condition; set up, clean, and disinfect examination rooms; monitor and ensure appropriate inventory of medical supplies in examination rooms.
- Confer with the patient to obtain accurate information for records, explain procedures, and ensure completion of chart information prior to examination by provider.
- Coordinate and participate in a variety of patient care activities in the examination and treatment of patients.
- Contribute to patient care through patient and family education, distributing resource literature, and community service recommendations and referrals as needed.
- Interact calmly, respectfully, and in a friendly manner with other representatives of services at the Dent.
- Refer patients to proper resources for Dent policies such as billing and/or financial support.
- Assist in clerical duties as needed, functioning as a member of the healthcare team.
- May be required to escort and/or transport patients to the examination room and other clinic locations, if necessary.
- May be required to assist with bio-hazard cleanup (i.e., restroom, waiting area, exam room following universal precautions/kits).
- Maintain competence through continuing education and in-service training.
- May assist with other clinical projects at times when LPN coverage demands are lower.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of an LPN program from an accredited college or technical school.
- Active NYS Practical Nurse License free and clear of restrictions.
Working Conditions:
- Minimal physical effort while rooming patients, frequent walking.
- Potentially prolonged periods of standing.
- May include assistance to the disabled patient in transfers to and from wheelchairs.
- Regular fine hand manipulation.
- Associated health risks related to patient exposure, including body fluids.
- Sometimes bending, squatting, reaching above shoulder level, crouching, kneeling, and pushing/pulling.
- Requires some lifting, usually not in excess of 10 pounds.
Travel:
- Frequent travel between Dent Neurologic Institute sites required.
Compensation:
- Most candidates will start within the first quartile of the pay range.
- Rates are commensurate with experience.
