Position Overview:

As a Refrigeration Systems Manager, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the operational efficiency of our supply chain facilities. Your primary focus will be to cultivate a culture centered around reliability and maintenance, ensuring optimal equipment performance and availability.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of ammonia refrigeration technicians in performing both preventive and corrective maintenance on refrigeration systems.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and control systems related to refrigeration, including compressors, evaporators, and condensers.
  • Act as a technical expert for a food distribution center, guiding recovery efforts and troubleshooting during equipment downtimes while ensuring compliance with all regulatory agencies.
  • Communicate incidents effectively and escalate issues promptly to relevant stakeholders.
  • Proactively identify solutions to minimize unplanned downtime of refrigeration systems.
  • Manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently while providing technical leadership and mentorship to the Engineering & Facilities team.
  • Conduct technical interviews for potential technician candidates, assessing their skills and providing training to internal staff.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for any ammonia refrigeration system alarms or issues.
  • Coordinate with maintenance contractors and third-party vendors to ensure adherence to service agreements.
  • Work closely with the Process Safety Management (PSM) coordinator to meet onsite coordination requirements.
  • Ensure timely completion of work orders and maintenance documentation.
  • Promote safety by maintaining thorough knowledge of safety procedures and ensuring the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement strategies for refrigeration systems.
  • Foster collaboration with refrigeration peers and the HQ Engineering team.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in operating, maintaining, and servicing industrial ammonia systems. Strong understanding of industrial safety practices, including arc flash safety protocols. Availability for on-call support outside of regular business hours is essential. Excellent communication skills to convey technical issues to business leaders. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities are required. Proven capability to motivate teams and manage conflicts effectively. Proficiency in reading schematics and technical drawings, along with experience using Microsoft Office tools.


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems certifications (CARO/CIRO) is a plus.
