Position Overview

Advocate Aurora Health is in search of a Staff Ultrasound Technologist for a role in Wisconsin.

Job Responsibilities

Key Duties:

  • Efficiently operates ultrasound machinery to conduct general, vascular, and cardiac examinations, distinguishing between normal and abnormal findings.
  • Reviews patient medical histories to gather essential clinical details, including lab results and physician directives, ensuring accuracy in examinations.
  • Positions patients appropriately and selects the correct transducer and technical settings to achieve optimal imaging results while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Utilizes advanced sonographic skills to recognize, document, and modify procedures based on anatomical and diagnostic information.
  • Accurately labels images with patient identification and relevant details for comprehensive documentation.
  • Maintains compliance with regulatory standards, entering patient and study data into the radiology information system, and documenting billing codes for services rendered.
  • Identifies and communicates equipment performance issues and assesses new technologies for potential implementation.
  • Analyzes sonographic data, synthesizes medical history, and conveys findings to the appropriate medical personnel.
  • Demonstrates the ability to provide age-appropriate care, understanding the developmental needs of patients across the lifespan.
Licensure and Certification Requirements
  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen, OB/GYN, or Vascular Technologist (RVT) registration required within specified timeframes.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers must be obtained within 6 months.
Educational Background
  • Completion of an accredited Sonography program beyond high school is mandatory.
Experience
  • No prior experience is necessary.
Essential Skills and Abilities
  • Proficiency in performing general and vascular sonographic procedures.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in differentiating normal from pathological findings.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients and healthcare team members.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and priorities.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be capable of performing physical tasks such as lifting, standing, and transferring patients throughout the workday.
  • Must have clear speech, vision, and hearing abilities.
