About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning Engineer to lead our team in developing innovative search applications. As a Technical Lead, you will be responsible for researching and proposing new language modeling techniques to improve language understanding capabilities at Apple.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and develop novel applications of Large Language Models (LLMs) to various search problems
  • Collaborate with product teams to apply language understanding models to new product areas and use cases
  • Analyze loss patterns in the current search and assistant stack and propose new ideas, algorithms, and techniques to resolve those losses
  • Develop a long-term technical vision and propose a roadmap for the team
Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in Machine Learning, NLP, and Large Language Models
  • 3+ years of experience in a technical leadership role, overseeing complex projects and managing teams
  • Strong software engineering skills in a mainstream programming language, such as Python, Go, or C/C++
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multi-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with NLP/ML tools and packages like Jax, TensorFlow, or pyTorch
  • Practical experience building production-quality applications related to natural language processing and machine learning
  • Ability to quickly prototype ideas, perform critical analysis, and use creative approaches for solving complex problems
