Job Summary

The Audio Visual Specialist Sr. is a key member of the Maricopa Community College District team, responsible for the advanced operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of classroom audio visual (AV) systems and equipment. This role involves designing, installing, and managing AV solutions in classrooms and for various events, presentations, and meetings.

Key Responsibilities
  • AV System Design and Installation: Utilize advanced knowledge of diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, restoring, upgrading, and installing audio visual systems and multimedia equipment.
  • AV System Maintenance: Operate with technical staff, vendors, and cross-functional teams to install, repair, and maintain scalable audio visual systems.
  • AV System Troubleshooting: Prioritize troubleshooting process and manage time through completion of repairs; elevate problems to the appropriate level, including vendor support.
  • AV System Upgrade and Maintenance Planning: Determine whether an issue can be solved or needs to be escalated due to issues with design or engineering of audio-visual systems; recommend and implement necessary adjustments to designs.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of experience with supporting audio visual and multimedia systems, hardware, and software, and end-users of audio visual systems.
  • Desired Qualifications: Experience with Crestron Control Systems, general networking knowledge for connecting audio-visual and media devices, knowledge of the architectural, cabling, and control system requirements of AV technologies and sound reinforcement, experience providing audio-visual support for live events, experience with handling equipment failures and providing quick or alternative solutions, and experience with asset inventory management.
Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands: Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving. May be required to work at multiple sites or locations. Monday - Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm. May be required to work some evenings and weekends. May be required to sit for a prolonged period of time; viewing a computer monitor. May be required to lift or carry up to 25lbs. Climbing stairs and/or ladders to reach assigned areas along with working at heights. May be required to work outdoors in a variety of temperatures and environmental conditions.
