Job Title: Community Engagement Specialist

Department: Conference Support

Reports To: Case Manager Supervisor

FSLA Status: Non Exempt, 20 hours per week

Compensation: $25.00 to $26.00 per hour

Overview: This role is vital for the Council, focusing on the Intake process to assess eligibility for our case management services and facilitating systems navigation for individuals referred to the program. Proficiency in Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, or Vietnamese is essential.

Key Responsibilities: The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting the Intake process for case management referrals through initial outreach, screening, and evaluation of potential clients.
  • Offering referral assistance for clients who do not meet the criteria for case management services, including navigating social services and identifying current community resources for appropriate referrals.
  • Building collaborative relationships with other service providers and agencies, particularly those serving similar demographics.
  • Acting as a liaison with Centro Rendu Case Management services, facilitating resource referrals including helplines and support services.
  • Providing logistical and administrative support to case managers, including follow-ups with clients and data collection for service effectiveness evaluation.
  • Engaging diplomatically with various stakeholders, including volunteers, clients, and fellow case managers.
  • Demonstrating cultural and linguistic competence for the priority populations served.
  • Exhibiting a proven track record of working with low-income communities of color.
  • Possessing or being willing to develop engagement skills such as motivational interviewing and empathetic listening.
  • Maintaining organization, coordination skills, and attention to detail.
  • Occasionally providing case management as time permits.
  • Completing data entry and reporting for various grant obligations.
  • Exemplifying the Society's Statement of Values through a positive attitude.

Qualifications: To effectively perform the essential duties of this position, candidates must possess the following:

Education/Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, Psychology, Education, or a related field; or 4+ years of equivalent experience in social services to a diverse community, or a combination of education and/or training and/or work experience that equips the individual to fulfill the role of Community Engagement Specialist.

Language Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, including the ability to address groups and communicate effectively with diverse workgroups. Proficiency in reading, analyzing, and understanding various business-related documents is necessary. The ability to write reports and business correspondence is essential. Fluency in Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, or Vietnamese is preferred.

Mathematical Skills: The individual must be able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations and understand statistics.

Reasoning Skills: The ability to quickly solve practical problems in situations with limited standardization is required, along with the capacity to interpret a variety of instructions in different formats.

Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office software is required. Familiarity with client-based software and email communication is essential for regular reporting and communication.

Certificates and Licenses: None required.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
