We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Duke Health Integrated Practice. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing direct and indirect care to patients at our Women's Health Heritage clinic.
Key Responsibilities- Perform intake with patients, including vital signs, visit information, and other clinical data as required.
- Take telephone messages from patients, document encounters, and inform providers according to established protocols.
- Administer medications to patients as ordered by providers or by established protocols, adhering to the six rights of medication administration.
- Assist providers with examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience.
- Perform tasks such as setting up for clinical procedures, high-level disinfection and sterilization, and other miscellaneous duties within the scope of practice.
- Obtain prior authorizations for medications and durable medical equipment as necessary.
- Float in the clinic to cover patient and provider needs as delegated by the nurse manager, health center administrator, charge nurse, or nurse team lead.
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program, preferably CAAHEP or ABHES accredited.
- High school or GED graduation required.
- Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA required.
- BLS certification required.
This position involves day shifts, Monday through Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
