Who We Serve:

We provide programs for middle and high school students, along with leadership development initiatives for professionals. Our funding comes from private events and corporate gatherings, allowing us to offer transformative experiences at no cost to families.

Position Summary:

The Culinary Specialist is responsible for the preparation, presentation, and thorough cleaning of food service areas for both clients and staff. This role demands efficiency and speed to ensure timely service while maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in accordance with food safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow directives from the Sous Chef or Executive Chef.
  • Assist fellow cooks in ingredient preparation as per menu requirements.
  • Prepare and organize ingredients for recipes before cooking.
  • Oversee the setup and service of buffet lines as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of cooking utensils and supplies.
  • Ensure timely meal service and replenish food lines as necessary.
  • Cook menu items using various kitchen equipment.
  • Present food professionally throughout the meal service.
  • Clean dining areas and food lines post-meal, adhering to food storage protocols.
  • Transport food orders as required.
  • Restock food storage areas.
  • Engage professionally with guests and staff to enhance the dining experience.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 months experience in food service or hospitality.
  • Commitment to food safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Maintain professional communication with team members.
  • Willingness to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Serve Safe Certification is preferred.

Work Environment:

  • Must be prepared for a boat commute.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures based on the season.
  • Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including weekends.
  • Potential overnight stays on the island may be required.
  • This position is subject to a criminal background check.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to remain active and on feet for extended periods.
  • Assist with loading and unloading cargo, which may involve lifting heavy items.

Compensation and Benefits:

Competitive hourly wage based on experience, along with earned sick time, a 401K retirement plan with matching contributions, and access to various insurance options. Temporary housing may be provided for eligible positions.
