Grossing Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Grossing Laboratory Technician to join our team at Antech Diagnostics. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing laboratory analyses and tests, preparing samples, setting up instruments, running tests, and reading, interpreting, and releasing results.
Key Responsibilities- Accurately gross an average of 12 cases per hour, with a high level of quality and attention to detail.
- Load and operate the Sakura V.I.P. machines as needed, ensuring efficient and accurate results.
- Properly identify, orient, ink, and trim submitted tissues, adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and related protocols.
- Produce accurate and legible grossing notes with code descriptions, providing clear understanding of sections taken for pathologists.
- Communicate effectively with pathologists, transcription, and LabC email communications, exercising judgment in evaluating and reporting results.
- Identify problem and special handling cases, grossing tissue for specific re-gross requests in a timely manner.
- Calibrate and run Quality Control on machines, assisting with daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance.
- Exercise judgment in evaluating and reporting results, reporting technical/QC problems to lead tech or supervisor.
- Cross-train and develop knowledge of multiple specialties within the department/lab, applying job skills and lab policies and procedures to complete tasks.
- Bachelor's Degree in Science, Biology, or other Life Sciences, with coursework in anatomy/physiology required.
- Laboratory skills, with experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests and operating lab instruments preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of lab equipment and procedures, medical and laboratory terminology, and Microbiology procedures and equipment helpful.
- General science background, attention to detail, organized with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Communication skills, both verbal and written, positive can-do attitude, and supervisory skills if a lead position.
- Personal computer skills, including strong typing ability and proficient use of Microsoft Office.
