Key Responsibilities- Active participation in patient care, including anticipatory preparation for health maintenance and chronic health care needs.
- Obtaining histories and vital signs, arranging referral and diagnostic testing appointments, and performing phlebotomy and other procedures as determined relevant to the individual patient.
- Demonstrating critical thinking skills concerning appropriate documentation of allergies, medication updates, immunizations, past medical history diagnoses, and any other information added to the medical record of an individual patient.
- Supporting patient care and the healthcare team by anticipating administrative functions requiring support, including preparing prior authorizations, participating in the approval process for medications, monitoring clinical messaging, and supporting providers with completion of patient follow-up letters.
- Maintaining a beautiful and orderly practice environment and sharing responsibility with other medical assistants for the quality, safety, and laboratory check systems in the clinical environment.
- Current Medical Assistant Certification required.
- Current Basic CPR certification required.
- Minimum of high school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Graduate of an MGH-approved Medical Assistant program required.
- Successful completion of MGH Medical Assistant Academy required within 6 months of hire date.
