Job Title: Respiratory Therapist

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at RWJBarnabas Health. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare organization.

Job Summary:

The Respiratory Therapist will be responsible for assessing patients' pulmonary status, developing plans of care in collaboration with physicians and nurses, and delivering respiratory care to patients. This includes administering respiratory care as ordered by physicians, documenting all required information in patient records, and performing daily preventive maintenance and quality control for arterial blood analyzers and co-oximeter.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer respiratory care as ordered by physicians and document all required information in patient records.
  • Assist during emergency bronchoscopy procedures.
  • Intubate (if certified) and manually ventilate patients during emergency situations.
  • Extubate patients as ordered by physicians.
  • Perform and interpret weaning parameters and simple spirometry (bedside) as ordered.
  • Perform arterial puncture, analysis, and reporting of sample results. Interpret results relative to acid-base balance and ventilatory status.
  • Provide and maintain patient airways (including suctioning and securing endotracheal tubes, tracheostomies, and oral pharyngeal airways).
  • Provide appropriate in-service to patients, family, physicians, nurses, and clinical employees as required.
  • Respond to Code Blue and perform CPR as required.
  • Set up, operate, monitor, and troubleshoot oxygen delivery devices, pulse oximeters, end-tidal CO2 monitors, and ventilators.
  • Verify that physician orders are complete and appropriate and check for possible contraindications.
Requirements:
  • NJ RRT license.
  • BLS through American Heart Association.
  • PALS certification.
  • AA/AS degree (preferred).
