Job Overview

The Equipment Reliability Specialist is tasked with the crucial role of establishing and enhancing predictive and preventative maintenance protocols that guarantee the dependability of machinery and processes. This position is essential in promoting safe, prompt, and efficient production by offering strong leadership to the team responsible for the upkeep and repair of equipment. The goal is to maintain machinery in optimal condition through a premier preventative maintenance strategy. Key performance indicators will be developed to foster ongoing improvements in both personnel and equipment.


Key Responsibilities
  • Guide team members in the repair of electrical and mechanical systems, devices, and components of industrial machinery, adhering to electrical codes, manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Organize and delegate daily tasks for maintenance of production equipment through work orders, ensuring follow-up for task completion.
  • Coordinate maintenance technicians and manage the database for equipment calibrations, including but not limited to spark testers and line counters.
  • Provide direction and assistance to employees in diagnosing issues with malfunctioning machinery using testing equipment, collaborating with fellow maintenance personnel for accurate problem identification.
  • Support and lead Lean Manufacturing initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Identify and replace defective mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components in machinery.
  • Evaluate existing equipment and process shortcomings by collaborating with operational team members, including process engineers, to modify equipment or processes to meet primary objectives.
  • Oversee the management and inventory of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment, initiating reorders as necessary.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to secure competitive pricing.
  • Compile reports, analyze data, and propose recommendations for operational improvements and resolution of maintenance-related challenges.
  • Ensure that maintenance staff are well-trained, equipped, and motivated to carry out maintenance tasks safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
  • Administer a computerized maintenance management system to track work orders and maintenance history of production equipment.
  • Monitor, assess, and enhance key maintenance metrics such as asset utilization, maintenance costs, PM compliance, and schedule adherence.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Prior technical supervisory experience demonstrating effective management capabilities.
  • Experience in troubleshooting mechanical systems with electronic controls.
  • A minimum of 5 years of electrical experience with manufacturing equipment.
  • A minimum of 5 years of mechanical experience with manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience in troubleshooting digital controls.
  • Proficient in using computer applications such as Word and Excel.
