Job Summary

Sovah Health - Martinsville is seeking a skilled Security Officer II to provide a safe environment for staff and visitors. This role involves general patrolling, documentation of incidents, and assisting medical staff with combative patients and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform proactive monitoring of and timely responses to potential/actual security threats.
  • Investigate and manage all security incidents and hazards on the premises.
  • Maintain knowledge of and follow policies and procedures regarding alarms and emergency/disaster preparedness plans.
  • Provide information and assistance to patients, staff, and visitors to promote their safety on the premises.
  • Complete a detailed and accurate shift report before leaving.
  • Assist nursing staff with combative or disruptive patients, up to and including the application of restraints if directed by Nursing Supervisor.
  • Respond to all calls for emergency assistance.
  • Work with Nursing Supervisors to secure and process patient valuables.
  • Conduct safety inspections of assigned areas.
  • Conduct fire extinguisher inspections as assigned.
  • Secure the helipad for the arrival and departure of helicopters and complete a report.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider (BLS) required within 60 days from date of hire.
