Job Description

Bloomberg is seeking a highly motivated and technically savvy Team Leader to support and develop our team of data engineers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data technologies and excellent leadership skills.

The Team Leader will be responsible for setting the team's technical strategy, delivering high-quality data, tools, and systems, and attracting, coaching, developing, and retaining a team of versatile data engineers.

The successful candidate will have expert-level knowledge of data processing paradigms and associated tools and technologies, as well as experience driving strategies, managing complex projects, and leadership ability in change management or influencing others.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the team to partner with other data and core business groups to develop and improve fit-for-purpose data that powers our products
  • Mobilizing the team to design and implement proactive data quality management supported by client-focused metrics and process observability
  • Developing data modeling and ETL skills within the team and collaborating with Engineering teams to develop a robust data product that can deliver value across multiple client-facing products
  • Managing and analyzing internal processes to find opportunities for improvement, as well as devising and implementing new innovative workflow solutions to improve quality and time to market for the Index dataset
  • Performing incident management, from troubleshooting and root cause analysis to overall problem management and client critical issues
  • Effectively project managing and setting tangible team and product goals

Requirements include:

  • Technical experience to lead a team of data engineers and ensure high standards in production deliveries, including deep technical competence in Python or another programming language
  • Expert-level knowledge of data processing paradigms and associated tools and technologies
  • Experience driving strategies, managing complex projects, and leadership ability in change management or influencing others
  • Demonstrable ability to use technology to develop innovative data products and processes
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related degree/equivalent experience

A Master's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or another computational or business field is also desirable.
