Remittance Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Remittance Representative to join our team at Hackensack Meridian Health. As a key member of our financial operations team, you will be responsible for daily remit processing, reconciliation of bank deposits, and analysis of payment activity between the bank lockbox, daily deposits, EFT/ACH, and payment application system.

• Post and reconcile bank deposits with remittance and payment files, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
• Communicate with payers, clearinghouses, and other stakeholders to resolve missing remittance issues and open tickets as needed.
• Ensure daily core functions are completed and balanced accurately, including posting of lockbox batches, remittance advice, and credit card exceptions.
• Track and trend exceptions to core business functions, reviewing errors on electronic remittance advice files and escalating to appropriate entities.
• Prepare cash reports for management and finance, as well as general ledger journals for deposits.
• Act as a liaison between departments, including finance, access, patient financial services, and internal IT, on remittance-related queries.
• Oversee all aspects of cash management, identifying issues and recommending process enhancements for quality improvement.

• Associate's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 2 or more years of experience in physician billing, remittance processing, and/or customer service-oriented positions.
• Good accounting skills with emphasis on reconciliation.
• Excellent data entry skills and analytical abilities.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

• Strong knowledge of banking systems and EPIC experience/knowledge.
• Proficient in Windows applications and hospital billing systems.
