Job Title: Licensure Specialist

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking a highly skilled Licensure Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Human Resources department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our licensure and salary processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Counsel employment teams and administrators on licensure eligibility and make recommendations to the employment division.
  • Examine, analyze, and evaluate credentials of prospective new hires, including work experience, to determine salary ratings and make recommendations.
  • Act as a liaison to instructional staff, analyzing and interpreting complex federal, state, and local policies and mandates.
  • Conduct school-wide licensure meetings, individual conferences, and group sessions to assist teachers in understanding and fulfilling licensure requirements.
  • Identify and evaluate initial, lateral entry, vocational, alternative, emergency permit, and provisional candidates, and determine PRAXIS/coursework deficiencies.
  • Provide individualized support to employees completing licensure requirements.
  • Assess pertinent licensure information to establish salaries of licensed staff within state and local guidelines.
  • Monitor and audit state reports and salary exceptions to ensure proper licensure and salary level in coordination with Payroll, Budget, and Compensation, and the State Division of Auditing and Accounting.
Requirements:
  • Four years of HR experience or two years of HR experience with a Bachelor's degree.
  • Excellent analytical, technical, and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Valid driver's license and personal transportation for work use.
