Role Overview: As a key member of our Tax Exempt practice, you will offer expert tax guidance and strategic planning to safeguard tax-exempt status. Your responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing tax returns for exempt organizations and their taxable affiliates, including necessary international filings, IRS audit defense strategies, and addressing various tax-related issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough reviews and analyses of tax returns, dedicating approximately 30-50% of your time to this task.
  • Collaborate with a dedicated team of seasoned tax professionals specializing in exempt organizations.
  • Manage multiple complex issues while effectively communicating in a straightforward manner to bridge the gap between clients and our service team, mitigating risks for both parties.
  • Engage directly with clients to address inquiries, planning needs, and concerns.
  • Guide, motivate, and mentor junior team members, allocating around 10% of your time to this effort.
  • Perform, document, summarize, and review research findings on specific tax matters, dedicating about 10% of your time.
  • Stay informed on the latest tax practices and legislative changes.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned, with some travel requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a public accounting setting.
  • Proven ability to work closely with clients to resolve inquiries and gather essential information for tax services.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of tax laws and their implications.
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing tax returns.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Accounting.
  • CPA, JD, LLM, or EA certification.
  • Experience with a national or large regional accounting firm.
  • Familiarity with tax codes and the technical aspects of tax preparation and compliance.
  • Advanced technical skills in accounting and tax preparation; industry specialization is advantageous.
  • Experience with international tax matters is a plus.

Compensation Range: The salary range for this position is $76,300 - $144,100, with eligibility for a discretionary bonus based on individual and firm performance.
