Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Team Development:
    • Oversee and mentor a high-performing tax team, promoting a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive learning and development system that enhances both technical and soft skills, empowering professional staff to advance their careers.
    • Collaborate with sales, engineers, and product departments to drive business growth and success.
  • Compliance and Risk Management:
    • Ensure adherence to all tax regulations and compliance requirements, identifying potential risks and implementing proactive solutions.
    • Oversee the tax preparation process and timely filing of federal, state, and local tax returns for clients.
    • Evaluate and enhance our tax policies and procedures, leveraging technology and best practices to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
  • Client Engagement:
    • Onboard, build, and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing exceptional service and tailored solutions to meet their unique tax needs.
    • Provide expert tax advice and support for more complex clients on various tax-related matters, including tax-saving opportunities and risk management.
  • Industry Insight:
    • Stay abreast of tax law changes, ensuring our services remain competitive and compliant.
Requirements
  • Proven experience managing a tax team in a public accounting firm or similar environment, with a track record of mentoring and developing professional staff.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA, Attorney, or EA certification required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in tax management or a similar role, with a specific focus on servicing SMB clients across various industries.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations, including recent legislative changes and compliance requirements pertinent to SMBs.
  • Proven experience in tax planning, compliance, and audit support.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to build, maintain, and enhance client relationships.
