Responsibilities:
  • Provide instruction to students under the direction of a teacher, working with individual students or small groups.
  • Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
  • Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
  • Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
  • Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Help the teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
  • Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
  • Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom.
  • Make the teacher aware of special needs or problems of individual students.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Texas educational aide certificate.
  • Ability to work well with children and communicate effectively.
  • Some experience working with children is preferred.
Working Conditions:

The Behavioral Educational Aide will work in a school environment, with frequent interruptions and the need to maintain emotional control under stress. The position requires moderate standing, occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, and stooping, as well as regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds).
