Overview:

The Senior Engineer plays a pivotal role in the planning and execution of engineering projects, utilizing independent judgment to evaluate, select, and adapt standard methodologies and criteria. This position is essential for the successful completion of medium to large-scale engineering initiatives, ensuring effective organization and management of project components. Close collaboration with a Senior Project Engineer or Project Engineer is integral for technical oversight and support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and assess system concepts and alternatives to identify optimal design and engineering solutions tailored to project requirements.
  • Create detailed design drawings and specifications for the construction of mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Determine appropriate system types and engineer air distribution, chilled water, heating water, and steam systems.
  • Lead and coordinate efforts with engineers, designers, AutoCAD technicians, and administrative personnel.
  • Engage with clients to discuss modifications to designs and specifications.
  • Conduct systems analysis and generate comprehensive reports, studies, and cost estimates.
  • Oversee the distribution of all finalized drawings and specifications.
  • Collaborate with other design team members, including architects and mechanical and structural engineers, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems across all disciplines.
  • Function as a collaborative team member alongside the construction project manager and installation crews.
  • Participate in design team meetings as necessary.
  • Work with leadership to manage the design manpower budget and adjust it to reflect any changes in project scope.
  • Represent the organization professionally in all interactions with owners, architects, vendors, and contractors.
  • Contribute to the firm's human resource initiatives by mentoring and training junior staff members.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing, leadership, and business development teams.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in HVAC system design.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, decision-making, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, analytical, persuasive, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Proficient in business development strategies.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while thriving in a collaborative team environment.
  • Proven track record of setting goals, meeting deadlines, and adapting to evolving responsibilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Experienced in AutoCAD and Revit software.
  • Familiarity with Deltek Vision or Project Resource Management software is a plus.
  • Commitment to exceeding client expectations.
Credentials:
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is mandatory.
  • LEED Certification is preferred.
  • Additional certifications in specialized areas are advantageous.
Work Classification and Schedule:
  • This is a full-time salaried exempt position. Exempt employees are not eligible for overtime pay.
  • Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
  • Flexibility to work extra hours may be required to meet client demands and project deadlines.
  • The schedule will include a combination of in-office and remote work.
  • Occasional travel for client site visits and meetings may be necessary.
  • Assignments may involve support for projects across various sectors of the firm.
