POSITION SUMMARY
Rotating Machinery Services Inc. is in search of skilled Rotor Balancing Technicians. This position involves executing a range of mechanical tasks on turbomachinery parts and assemblies to ensure adherence to technical specifications and quality standards. We are open to training candidates with a strong mechanical aptitude.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure a safe working environment with a focus on safety excellence.
- Understand and comply with safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Assemble components following established procedures, blueprints, and specifications.
- Conduct precision balancing on components and rotating assemblies according to specified criteria.
- Utilize calipers, gauges, micrometers, and other measuring instruments to assess the condition of components and assemblies.
- Assemble various configurations of components based on assembly drawings using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Generate inspection reports as necessary and assist in documenting quality concerns and resolutions.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Interpret assembly and manufacturing drawings effectively.
- Additional projects and responsibilities may be assigned at the discretion of management.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong safety awareness.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Capability to engage in physical activities including pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, and bending.
- Comfortable working in a shop environment for extended periods, primarily standing or sitting as required.
- Ability to work with large propane and acetylene torches.
- Experience operating small lifts, pallet jacks, and other lifting equipment (training will be provided on specific equipment).
- Basic oral and written communication skills.
- Fundamental computer and mathematical skills.
- Attention to detail, patience, and a willingness to learn.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
Experience:
- Minimum of two years of experience in an industrial or machine shop environment preferred.
- At least two years of experience in component assembly and dynamic balancing.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- This position is full-time.
- Evening and weekend work may be required based on company needs.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English is necessary.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug and alcohol test, physical examination, and background check is required.
- This position may be subject to random drug screening by the company or customers.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Employees must be able to stand and walk for significant portions of their shifts.
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs, and engage in activities such as climbing, reaching, kneeling, crawling, and balancing.
- Must have the dexterity to use hands for assembly and tool operation.
- No allergies or issues related to handling metals such as aluminum, copper, bronze, and steel.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Employees will frequently be exposed to moving mechanical parts. The work area is generally clean and safe, but may involve moderate noise and metal particles due to machining operations.
