About the Regulatory Support Bureau

Compensation for Compliance Inspector: $19.57-$21.53

The starting hourly rates are indicative of the Field Services Compliance Inspector profile, reflecting the minimum to approximately 18.2% of the respective pay grades. The initial pay will depend on the education and experience of the selected candidate. Annual performance evaluations may lead to potential pay increases based on positive performance outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Environmental Resource Compliance Inspections: Perform inspections related to construction, as-built, and re-certification processes. Review approved plans to ensure compliance with design specifications. Document environmental features and verify compliance with permit conditions.
  • Manage Water Use Compliance Investigations: Observe on-site activities, record data, and verify compliance with water use permits. Conduct inspections to ensure adherence to permit conditions.
  • Assist with Well Construction Compliance: Observe well construction activities, report discrepancies, and conduct inspections to verify proper methods. Coordinate with local agencies regarding well construction permits.
  • Address Water Resource Complaints: Review and investigate complaints, conduct site inspections, and compile reports. Maintain compliance files and submit for review.
  • Provide Section Support: Respond to public inquiries regarding permitting and compliance. Assist applicants with permit applications and participate in departmental projects.
Working Environment

This role involves a mix of fieldwork and office tasks, with a significant portion of time spent in the field. Extensive travel is required, often during regular working hours, with occasional evening and weekend commitments. Fieldwork may occur under challenging weather conditions and in remote locations.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 60 pounds and perform tasks that require physical stamina, including digging and driving for extended periods.

Qualifications for Compliance Inspector Role
  • High School Diploma or equivalent with four years of relevant experience in maintenance, construction, or technical fields, or an Associate's degree with two years of experience, or a Bachelor's degree.
  • Valid Stormwater Inspector Certification.
  • Valid Driver's License.
