Position: Production Lead – Apple Department

Department: Apple

Status: Non-exempt

Classification: Regular Full-time

Reports To: Plant Manager

Supervisory Role: Yes

Shift: 3:45 PM to 3:45 AM, Saturday through Tuesday

Job Summary: This role involves overseeing all production activities in the Apple Department, ensuring high standards of quality, delivery, and safety while providing guidance and training to team members. The primary responsibilities include:

  1. Maintaining production pace
  2. Training team members to perform their tasks safely, efficiently, and with the required quality
  3. Updating and refining Standard Work as necessary

The ideal candidate will possess a passion for teaching and a commitment to achieving results.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure production cadence aligns with established standards.
  2. Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and safety policies, ensuring team compliance.
  3. Plan and oversee changeovers according to set standards.
  4. Conduct leader standard work, including data gathering and reporting on performance metrics.
  5. Communicate quality, safety, and delivery expectations to team members.
  6. Assist in developing Standard Operating Procedures and other documentation.
  7. Set up and change food processing equipment as required.
  8. Understand and train others in all departmental tasks, including Forklift operation and Quality Assurance.
  9. Conduct verification checks on finished products as needed.
  10. Complete work orders accurately and promptly.
  11. Report issues to relevant support departments in a timely manner.
  12. Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work area.
  13. Utilize MRP/ERP systems for inventory information.
  14. Lead pre-shift meetings and daily huddles.
  15. Perform some duties of the Production Supervisor when necessary.

Qualifications:

  1. Bi-lingual in English/Spanish is highly preferred.
  2. Strong time management skills.
  3. Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  4. 1-3 years of relevant experience or equivalent education in a leadership capacity.
  5. Ability to interpret safety rules and operational manuals.
  6. Competence in following written and verbal instructions.
  7. Ability to mentor team members to enhance safety and performance.
  8. Capability to perform all tasks of a Level 3 Production Associate and Forklift Operator.
  9. Proficient in Microsoft Outlook; Excel experience is preferred.
  10. Proactive in seeking guidance from supervisors.
  11. Initiative to enhance team performance.

Working Conditions:

  1. Exposure to wet and humid environments.
  2. Working in a loud environment; hearing protection is mandatory.
  3. Proximity to equipment with extreme heat and moving parts.
  4. Ability to work in environments with allergens.
  5. Prolonged standing and walking required.
  6. Occasional use of hands and fingers.
  7. Frequent communication and sensory engagement.
  8. Ability to lift/push/pull/carry up to 50 pounds.
  9. Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision.
  10. Exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
