Position Overview

Role Summary
As a pivotal member of the safety team, the Campus Safety and Security Specialist is responsible for maintaining a secure environment for all members of the university community. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular security patrols to monitor campus safety.
- Investigate and document incidents, including criminal activities, fire alarms, and medical emergencies.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations, providing assistance and coordinating evacuations as necessary.
- Facilitate medical support and transportation to healthcare facilities when required.
- Enforce campus regulations and manage parking and traffic control.
- Operate departmental vehicles, including shuttles, and provide security escorts upon request.

Qualifications
- An Associate Degree in Criminal Justice or equivalent experience is required; a Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
- Prior experience in law enforcement is advantageous but not mandatory.
- A valid NYS Security Guard License is essential.

Skills and Competencies
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Work Environment
The role involves frequent indoor and outdoor activities in various weather conditions, requiring foot, vehicle, and stationary patrols. The specialist may encounter hazardous materials and challenging situations, necessitating a calm and professional demeanor.

Equipment Utilized
- Proficient use of MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), desktop publishing tools, and various communication devices.

Job Type
This is a full-time position with a commitment to 40 hours per week, covering various shifts as operational needs dictate.

Special Conditions
