Job Title: Production Forklift Operator

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Production Forklift Operator to join our team at Crown Cork & Seal USA, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality of packaging materials, transporting finished pallets to the warehouse, and maintaining a smooth flow of cans through the plant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that quality packaging materials are supplied to palletizing operations and transport finished quality pallets to the appropriate area of the warehouse.
  • Keep palletizer magazines full of pallets, top frames, and slip sheets and ensure the quality of all materials.
  • Check the conditions of the forklift and perform basic P.M.'s at the start of each shift.
  • Ensure strappers are full of banding material and pallets are flowing smoothly through lower conveying.
  • Inspect and transport finished pallets to the warehouse, referring any H.F.I.s for proper disposition.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in the lower conveying area.
  • Assist in other areas as needed to maintain a smooth flow of cans through the plant.
  • Scan all production to the proper bays and ensure P.O. numbers are not mixed.
  • Complete the required daily cleaning task and sign off sheet.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 6 months of forklift experience with operation at least 75% of the workday operating the forklift.
  • Ability to read and understand date codes and pallet tickets, know how to operate a computer to generate pallet tickets and the procedures for application.
  • Ability to learn and understand overall can making process, quality requirements, customer specifications, and be capable of identifying defects.
  • Ability to learn and understand the quality requirements of dunnage (pallets, slip sheets, top frames).
  • Basic data entry skills.
  • Ability to safely work and operate the forklift in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Packaging industry experience.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, SPC, and Lean Manufacturing.
