ICU Nurse: Medicine to ICU Transitional Program
Are you a motivated and dedicated nurse looking to advance your career in the ICU? UPMC Presbyterian, a Magnet designated hospital, is currently hiring a Full-time Registered Nurse to join our Medicine Division. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in our medicine floors and transition into our ICUs, equipping you with the skills and knowledge needed to become a successful and confident ICU nurse.
About the Units:
We have several units that offer a diverse patient population, including:
- 11S: A teaching unit with a diverse patient population, including hepatology, urology, endocrinology, post-surgical complications, pulmonary, infectious disease, and more.
- 12S Gen Med Stepdown: A 30-bed acuity adaptable General Medicine Unit with a diverse patient population.
- 12N Medical-Surgical: A 24-bed Medicine telemetry unit caring for a diverse patient population.
- 10E/W: A 30-bed acuity adaptable General Medicine Unit with a diverse patient population.
- 10S: A 30-bed acuity adaptable medical unit caring for stepdown and telemetry patients.
The Medical ICU at UPMC Presbyterian is a 32-bed critical unit expanding over 4 wings, with a patient population that includes severe acute respiratory failure, pneumonia, pre and post lung transplants, sepsis, acute renal failure, toxicology, and bariatric patients. You will gain experience with ventilators, trachs, vasopressors, neuromuscular blockades, and CRRT machines.

Requirements:
- Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse
- CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
- ACLS required within 12 months of beginning employment
- Act 34 Criminal Clearance
