Quality and Food Safety Internship

Butterball, LLC, a leading food manufacturer, is seeking a Quality and Food Safety Intern to join our team in Raeford, NC. As a Quality and Food Safety Intern, you will work closely with our Food Safety and Quality Assurance teams to ensure the highest standards of quality and food safety in our production processes.

Responsibilities:
  • Validate the "Less Than Daily" sanitation program
  • Define moisture retention protocols
  • Work with the laboratory to ensure sample collection and analysis, validating Salmonella interventions
  • Partner with cross-functional leadership teams to ensure validation, moisture, and Salmonella intervention protocols have been developed
  • Perform data collection, trend quality metrics, and communicate results
  • Work with FSQA and Operations teams to ensure sample collection
  • Work with Laboratory staff to understand sampling and analysis process
  • Record/report data and results
  • Support various teams to ensure that manufacturing process is consistent, compliant, and adheres to good manufacturing practices (GMP) requirements
Requirements:
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Safety, or related field with an expected graduation date of December 2025 through June 2026
  • Demonstrating knowledge and skill with Excel formulas to extract, organize, and report data
  • Showing strong interpersonal and relational skills
  • Experience with handling customer orders and other customer service functions
  • Background in supply chain and/or customer service preferred
  • Exposure to SAP and other MRP (Material Requirements Planning) and WMS (Warehouse Management) systems preferred
  • Has actively participated or held office in a campus or community organization (preferred but not required)
  • Computer skills (Excel, Word, Visio, Teams, Power BI, SharePoint)
  • Ability to lift up to 50-75 lbs to move turkeys and product as required
