This position is integral to the Outdoor Recreation Team at Lake Johnson Park, providing a unique opportunity to contribute to a well-respected organization within a vibrant and diverse city. The City of Raleigh boasts an extensive system of parks and natural areas, offering a rich environment for recreation and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Welcome visitors and respond to inquiries.
  • Coordinate and supervise the scheduling and execution of park programs and events.
  • Assist in the design and promotion of recreational services.
  • Maintain precise records and documentation related to park operations.
  • Effectively manage multiple administrative and operational tasks.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED, along with some college coursework in a relevant field such as Parks Recreation and Tourism or Natural Resource Management.

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience that enables the successful performance of the essential duties of the position.

Licensing and Certifications
  • Valid North Carolina Driver's Class C license with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least one year of professional experience in a related field.
  • Experience in outdoor recreation, customer service, and independent work.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey instructions clearly.
  • Knowledge of risk management practices in outdoor recreation settings.
Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient in using software applications for administrative tasks.
  • Familiarity with the City of Raleigh's parks, facilities, and programs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations, demonstrating maturity and conflict resolution skills.
  • Capacity to lead and assist in the planning and implementation of park programs and events.
  • Ensure compliance with cash handling policies and conduct regular inspections of park amenities.
